{from ruth} Copper on the Mind

I am currently enchanted with all things copper. Over the past week my fiancé and I have been registering for our wedding this coming summer. So of course I had to plan what colors each room would have so we would know what to register for. And a vision of brilliance came to me for the kitchen…no colors, just black and white and glorious copper!

However, my vision had to be run past the husband to be, who actually cares how pots cook—compared to me who just cares that they are pretty. He is the accomplished cook of the couple; presently I am a failure in the kitchen minus baking desserts. For those of you like my fiancé who care how a pan cooks, copper is one of the best conductors of heat and makes for pans with no “hot-spots” and is the most common kind of pot used by professionals.

So look at that, I have great taste in looks and quality but just didn’t know it. The down side of good taste—large price tag. To quell this little finance issue I turn to my faithful methods…flea markets, antique malls, and etsy. This past weekend I found copper gems, a colander ($10) and decorative ladle ($3) at an antique mall. My hunt is far from over and I will be keeping my eye out for copper creations for my future kitchen.

Perhaps an inspiring space will inspire my cooking aspirations…or I will have a very lovely kitchen for the husband to cook in.
